Pressure Plate Assembly

This pressure plate is from a 31,000-mile car and looks normal except that it has a wire sticking out at the bottom and the diaphragm finger tips are at uneven heights.  The wire sticking out at the bottom is the hidden fulcrum ring and is supposed to look just like the exposed fulcrum ring except it is under the diaphragm.

The reason why the hidden fulcrum ring is sticking out is because it failed at the fulcrum ring weld.  This failure shifted the fulcrum ring fulcrum and disabled proper clutch disengagement thereby disabling the car.
